Future Hope is fortunate to be supported by volunteers in every part of the work we do. Dedicated individuals sit on our Boards of Trustees in India and other parts of the world; administrators handle supporters, deal with correspondence, organise functions and look after the accounts.
In Kolkata, there are two main types of volunteers. We give preference to volunteers between the ages of 19 and 30 who can actively participate in a wide range of sports. Sport is a big component of Future Hope's program. We are also happy to receive applications from qualified teachers of any age who are fit and able to contribute to an area of teaching support that is needed from time to time. English language, Art, Drama and Mathematics are very helpful areas.
In general, volunteers need to be people who are organised and have an ability to work on their own initiative. They also need to be flexible and be prepared to take on tasks that are required by Future Hope. Volunteers need to be able to get on well with a range of people and have a positive outlook and are realistic about what they expect to achieve while they are here. We give a good deal of preliminary support until a volunteer has settled.
Volunteers are expected to stay for six months minimum.
