Introduction
Every night in Kolkata children can be found sleeping alone and vulnerable on station platforms and in the surrounding areas. They are without their parents, thin and unkempt. Many are ill, all are vulnerable and most are exposed to serious forms of exploitation. They have little or no ability to change their lives.

It is for children such as these that Future Hope India was established.
Originally set up in 1988 to provide a home, education, medical care and opportunity to street children, Future Hope now runs seven homes where more than 160 children live and enjoy the benefits of a secure and loving environment.

The work of Future Hope extends beyond our homes: Future Hope School educates over 200 pupils studying from Kindergarten to Class 12. Our school takes in not only the children from our homes but also those from the surrounding slum communities.
We have also built a small community development on the outskirts of Kolkata. This allows those who have found jobs to take on a small home and develop independent life skills in a safe environment close to their friends.
Sport, and rugby in particular, has always played a major role in Future Hope and it is through sport that we have been able to develop discipline and a sense of purpose in many of our children. Children of Future Hope have played at the highest level winning national honours representing India in Rugby. With this in mind we are now working hard to complete our next major project, the Future Hope Sports Foundation and School.
