Volunteering with Future Hope
Future Hope is fortunate to be supported by volunteers in every part of the work we do. Dedicated individuals sit on our Boards of Trustees in India and other parts of the world; administrators handle supporters, deal with correspondence, organise functions and look after the accounts.
In Kolkata we have volunteers who come in week after week to help with the music, sports and other extra-curricular activities. Volunteers from local business give our youngsters crucial support in IT and interview techniques to help them get ready for the world of work.
Professionals
We also welcome volunteers from outside India who bring their special skills and experience to the classroom or to other special projects.
If you are an experienced professional and have skills that you think would be helpful to us, please get in touch. We treat these applications on an individual basis.
Students and Recent Graduates
At any one time we have a small number of young volunteers: if you are a student or recently graduated we ask you to commit to at least 6 months with Future Hope. The reason for this is that there is inevitably a training period before you become truly useful, but more importantly the children become attached to our young volunteers and a high turnover of staff is very unsettling for them.
If you can commit to long hours and hard work over a period of six months and are prepared to undergo some training prior to your arrival, get in touch with us and tell us why you’d like to volunteer with Future Hope.
Most of our volunteers leave wishing they could stay longer and many come back.
If you are interested in volunteering with Future Hope please send a curriculum vitae to volunteers@futurehope.net
