Sujata manages the day to day operations at Future Hope, implements the planning and strategy, and works on the fundraising in India. Sujata has a long association with Future Hope, as a Trustee for eight years and Chair of the Board from 2014 until 31st March 2016, when she resigned to become the CEO of Future Hope.
In March 2016 Sujata retired as Director East India and from the All-India Senior Management team of the British Council in India, where she worked for 20 years. She was the first non-British person worldwide to be appointed a Director of the British Council. Her work covered all thirteen states in East India in the areas of school and higher education, social sector, English language teaching, arts and creative industries, examinations and qualifications and library and information services. She was responsible for a number of national and international projects. She was a Director with British Council Management Services, NOIDA, which is the British Council’s global Finance and IT hub incorporated as a company in India.
Sujata holds honorary positions in several trusts and foundations. Her earlier professional career included journalism and publishing. Sujata is married and has one daughter.
