Volunteer

Future Hope is fortunate to be supported by volunteers in every part of the work we do. From skilled volunteers who deliver an activity to GAP year students who join us in Kolkata for 6 months, we value the skills and energy that they bring to our charity.

Our volunteers span from dedicated individuals who sit on our Boards of Trustees in India and other parts of the world; administrators who handle supporters, deal with correspondence, organise functions and look after the accounts.

In Kolkata, we give preference to volunteers between the ages of 19 and 30 who can actively participate in a wide range of sports, extracurricular activities and English reading and conversation skills. We are also happy to receive applications from qualified teachers of any age who are fit and able to contribute to an area of teaching support that is needed from time to time. English language, Art, Drama, Mathematics, the Sciences and Learning Support are very helpful areas.

In general, volunteers need to be people who are independent, organised and have the ability to work on their own initiative. They also need to be flexible and be prepared to take on tasks that are required by Future Hope. Volunteers should be able to get on well with a wide range of people, have a positive outlook and be realistic about what they expect to achieve while they are here.

GAP year volunteers are expected to stay for a minimum of six months. Volunteers with specific qualifications will be considered on a one to one basis.

If you are interested in volunteering in Kolkata with Future Hope please read the Volunteer Information Letter and then please fill out and return the * Volunteer Application Form. Volunteer applications will only be processed with this form.
