Future Hope has six homes for over 140 residential children. Each home is run by a local house parent who is devoted to looking after the children’s daily needs and attending to their emotional wellbeing. Our homes aim to provide Kolkata’s street children with the fundamental aspects of normal family life:
To be amongst people they can trust
‘Here we look out for one another; I feel safe surrounded by my friends, we are like family’
To be healthy and sleep well at night
Children who before had only newspaper to sleep on now have a place to call home, where they feel protected.
To have the freedom to laugh and play
Whether they are playing football on the Maidan, dancing Zumba or having a chess match, our youth are free to enjoy their childhood, as they should be.
To have a sense of belonging
No longer worrying about their day to day survival, the children can begin life-long friendships and start planning for their futures.
